Refund Policy

At SpeakWell Academy, we are committed to providing high-quality English language education. This Refund Policy outlines the circumstances under which refunds may be issued and the procedures for requesting a refund. Please read this policy carefully before enrolling in our courses.

1. Cooling-Off Period

All students have a 7-day cooling-off period from the date of enrolment during which they may withdraw from a course for any reason and receive a full refund of all fees paid. To exercise this right, you must notify us in writing via email to [email protected] before the cooling-off period expires.

The cooling-off period applies regardless of whether classes have commenced. If you have attended classes during the cooling-off period, you will still receive a full refund upon timely notification of withdrawal.

2. Withdrawal Before Course Commencement

If you withdraw from a course after the cooling-off period but before the course start date, the following refund schedule applies:

More than 14 days before course start 90% of fees paid (10% administration fee)
8-14 days before course start 75% of fees paid (25% administration fee)
7 days or less before course start 50% of fees paid (50% administration fee)

3. Withdrawal After Course Commencement

Once a course has commenced, refunds are calculated on a pro-rata basis according to the number of classes or weeks remaining. The following applies:

A $150 administration fee applies to all post-commencement withdrawals.

4. Special Circumstances

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may necessitate withdrawal from a course. In cases of serious illness, family emergency, or other compassionate grounds, we may consider exceptions to our standard refund policy. Such requests must be made in writing and accompanied by supporting documentation such as:

All special circumstance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by our management team. Approval is at our sole discretion.

5. Course Cancellations by SpeakWell Academy

If SpeakWell Academy is unable to provide a course for which you are enrolled, you will be offered the following options:

In such cases, we will notify you as soon as practicable and work with you to find a suitable solution. We are not liable for any additional costs or expenses you may have incurred as a result of the cancellation.

6. Course Changes and Rescheduling

SpeakWell Academy reserves the right to make changes to course schedules, locations, or instructors when necessary. If such changes are unacceptable to you, you may withdraw from the course and receive a refund according to the schedule outlined in Section 2 or 3, depending on whether the course has commenced.

Changes to course content or teaching methods that do not materially affect the value or quality of instruction do not entitle students to a refund.

To request a refund, please follow these steps:

Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 21 business days of approval. You will receive written confirmation once your refund has been processed.

Important Note: Refunds are only available to the person who made the original payment. If your course fees were paid by a third party (such as an employer or sponsor), the refund will be issued to that party.

9. Disputes and Appeals

If you believe your refund request has been unfairly denied or you disagree with the refund amount offered, you may submit an appeal in writing to our Director of Studies within 14 days of receiving the decision. Your appeal will be reviewed by senior management, and you will receive a written response within 10 business days.

If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome, you may lodge a complaint with Fair Trading NSW or seek independent advice.
